Amache is currently home to a reconstructed barrack, historical recreation hall, historical water tower, and reconstructed guard tower. The interior of the barrack and recreation hall can only be accessed while park staff is present.

There is also a cemetery and memorial to honor the people who died while incarcerated at Amache, as well as the soldiers from Amache who were killed while serving in World War II. If you choose to visit, please be respectful.

 

The Amache Museum is located in Granada and operated by the Amache Preservation Society.

Amache Museum

Amache Preservation Society student volunteers provide interpretive tours of the site and operate a museum in Granada that features exhibits and collections of items culturally significant to Amache. To participate in a guided tour of the site or to visit the museum, please make a reservation through the Amache Preservation Society  at 719-734-5492 or by email at [e-mail].

 

A special note for those with a personal or family connection to Amache  

If you or a family member were incarcerated at Amache and you wish to find your family barracks, this online directory will help you do so. You may wish to have these results available to you in hard copy or as a saved image while visiting. Individual barracks blocks are not marked on site, so finding a specific block can be challenging. One way to ensure that you can find them is to plan your trip during a planned community event.
