Stockton Island Campsites

Site 1

Location: Adjacent to boat harbor at Presque Isle. A boardwalk leads from the campsite docks, contact station, and vault toilet.

Amenities: This is an wheelchair accessible campsite. Well water, vault toilet, picnic table, fire ring, enlarged tent pad, and food locker.

Tent Pad Size: 21' x 21'

Access: Boaters can tie up at the dock. The cruise service makes regular stops at the Presque Isle dock in July and August. Kayaks and small boats can land on the beach adjacent to the site.

Site 2

Location: Sites are spaced along a 3/4 mile stretch of shoreline on Presque Isle Bay. Site 2 is the closest to the dock (about 100 yards) with site 19 being the farthest. All sites have lake views.

Amenities: Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, food locker, and tent pads. Three sets of vault toilets and spaced throughout the campground near sites 3/4, 8/10, 13/15. Potable water is sometimes available near site 1.

Tent pad size: 14' x 14'

Access: Rocky beach with sandy hillside access. Boaters can use the dock or anchor in the bay. Many campsites no longer have beach access due to erosion.

 
Stockton Site 3

Site 3

Location: Sites are spaced along a 3/4 mile stretch of shoreline on Presque Isle Bay. Site 2 is the closest to the dock (about 100 yards) with site 19 being the farthest. All sites have lake views.

Amenities: Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, food locker, and tent pads. Three sets of vault toilets and spaced throughout the campground near sites 3/4, 8/10, 13/15. Potable water is sometimes available near site 1.

Access: Stairs to small rocky beach. Boaters can use the dock or anchor in the bay. Many campsites no longer have beach access due to erosion.

Site 4

Location: Sites are spaced along a 3/4 mile stretch of shoreline on Presque Isle Bay. Site 2 is the closest to the dock (about 100 yards) with site 19 being the farthest. All sites have lake views.

Site 5

Site 6

Site 7

Site 8

Site 10

Site 11

Site 19

Site 20

Location: Quarry Bay. 0.25 miles west of the dock at Quarry Bay, in the trees behind the west end of the beach.

Amenities: Tend pad,vault toilet nearby, picnic table, fire ring, food locker.

Access: The bay is a popular anchorage. Boaters can tie up at the dock. Kayakers can land on the beach next to campsite.

Site 21

Location: Trout Point. North side of the island, 6.3 miles from the Presque Isle ranger station.

Ameneties: Fire ring, food locker, tend pad, no vault toilet.

Access: This is not a suitable site for boaters due to the rocky/cobble beach. Kayakers may be able to carefully land. Backpackers must hike the 6.3 miles from Preque Isle. This hiking trail is unmaintained, and route finding may be difficult.
