1961 Summit Eruption

In 1961, not long after the eruption of Kīlauea Iki and the 1960 Kapoho eruption, Kīlauea erupted within Halemaʻumaʻu crater in three phases: February 24th, March 3rd to 10th, and July 10th to 17th. A flank eruption in the east rift zone also occured that September.
