NPS photo/N. Toering Jeff. Smiths Parlor Museum Don't miss your chance to tour the restored Jeff. Smiths Parlor Museum. Once the headquarters for notorious outlaw, Jefferson "Soapy" Smith, the former bar was transformed into a home-spun museum in 1935 with rare photos, one of a kind artifacts, folk art, strange taxidermy, and even animatronic manikins. Limited free same-day tickets are available at the Visitor Center and required for entry. Learn more about:
NPS Chilkoot Trail Hiking Permits From approximately June 1 - September 12, permits are required for overnight use of the Chilkoot Trail. Please note that it is currently prohibited to cross the U.S.-Canadian border via the Chilkoot Trail; while both sides of the trail are open to hiking, hikers must complete out-and-back hikes staying on one side of the border. Reservations for the U.S. side of the trail are made via Recreation.gov and validated at the Trail Center in Skagway. For more information, visit our Guide to Planning Your Hike on the Chilkoot Trail.
NPS Camping along the Chilkoot Trail is only allowed in designated campsites on a first come, first serve basis. Reserve a permit for the U.S. side of the trail via Recreation.gov, then validate the permit by attending a mandatory safety orientation at the Trail Center in Skagway.
NPS/R. Harrison Camping in Dyea Campsites at the Dyea Campground are $10 per site per night. We do not take reservations for the Dyea campground. Campsites are available on a first come, first served basis.
