Night Sky

As we gaze upon the planets, moons, and stars, we see objects and patterns that our ancestors contemplated, appreciated, and even utilized. Preserving dark night skies means preserving these connections with our ancestors, protecting the earth's natural rhythm of day and night, and prioritizing the health and habits of all living beings.

Much is yet to be known about the night sky and our universe, so it's essential to preserve dark sky sanctuaries where new discoveries can continue to be made. Thanks to cooperation among numerous public and private entities that value naturally dark night skies in the Jemez Mountains region, this area of northern New Mexico holds endless opportunity for research in related fields.
