Internship Opportunities at Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park has a variety of winter and summer internship opportunities available each year. Opportunities and position descriptions vary year to year.

If you are a high school student, recent graduate, college student, recent graduate, or Veteran with an interest in natural or physical sciences, history, communications, education, interpretation, or resource management, RMNP might have a position of interest to you!

Who is Eligible?

Internships at Rocky Mountain National Park are open to youth and young adults 15-30 years old, and veterans 35 years old and younger.

Are Any Special Skills Required?

Most positions require that applicants hold a valid driver’s license, have the ability to drive government vehicles, and be a U.S. citizen, however, eligibility varies per position.

When Do Internship Applications Open Up?

In most cases, the application process begins 4-6 months before each season of the year.

Environmental Education Internships

Multiple positions are open for the 2027 spring semester. These positions will be open until filled. Internships will take place in Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Colorado

Length/Time of Service: January 11, 2027 - May 14, 2027 (18 weeks)

The National Park Service (NPS) is dedicated to engaging and connecting America’s youth and young adults to our more than 400 national parks and programs through fun recreational, educational, vocational, and volunteer service opportunities.

Youth and young adults up to age 30 and veterans 35 years old or younger are invited to discover and take part in developmental programs and activities designed to engage various age groups.
