Today, Shiloh National Military Park announces the initiation of a planning process to produce a Development Concept Plan (DCP) for its new lands in and around Corinth, Mississippi.

Initial public commenting on the DCP concepts will open from May 20 to July 4, 2024, and include opportunities to submit written comments and participate in public meetings. An informational newsletter is available for review and comment at the project website at parkplanning.nps.gov/SHIL_DCP.

“We are pleased to offer this opportunity for the public to provide early input on the future of the park’s management,” said Superintendent Catherine Bragaw. “Shiloh National Military Park has expanded significantly in size and opportunities for visitors to engage with its history over the last decade. We have been working hard to imagine opportunities and access for the public in the park’s new lands and we now need feedback from our visitors and stakeholders on our effort. This feedback helps us know if we are on the right track, and where improvements might be needed.”

Two public meetings will be held at the park’s Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center to discuss preliminarily ideas about the New Lands DCP. They will take place on Tuesday, June 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and on Wednesday June 12, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. More information about the meetings and their format can be found on the project website at parkplanning.nps.gov/SHIL_DCP.

During the meetings, National Park Service staff will explain the plan process, showcase preliminary concepts, describe methods for public comment, and answer participants’ questions. The meeting presentations will be identical and interested parties are encouraged to attend the time most convenient.
