Rocket propulsion has come a very long way since its birth, sometime in the late 12th century. While the early versions of rockets were difficult to reign in and control, continued research and development have refined these volatile, incendiary contraptions into complex, engineered vehicles that now travel into the depths of space where no human has ever gone.
