Do you enjoy history? Do you enjoy working with visitors from all over the country and the world? Andrew Johnson National Historic Site is accepting applications for weekday volunteer positions working for the Division of Interpretation and Visitor Services.

The park is looking to recruit part-time volunteer positions assisting in welcoming and orienting visitors to Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. The park is seeking candidates, who are willing to work a five-hour shift one to two weekdays a month. Candidates selected for these non-paid volunteer positions will be trained to work in the park visitor center, welcoming and orienting visitors, and performing sales-operations in the park bookstore, while learning about the life and times of our 17th president.

“Every year thousands of visitors travel to Greeneville, TN, to experience this park,” says Park Superintendent Aaron Shandor. “Some visitors are interested in American presidential sites, while others want to explore a smaller unit of their National Park Service. Volunteers provide crucial services at Andrew Johnson NHS and are often some of the first park representatives the public meet.”

The work experience gained by the selected volunteers will prove invaluable for applying for other volunteer opportunities at NPS sites across the country. For more information and/or a volunteer position description and application, email ANJO_information @nps.gov, or call (423) 638-3551.
