Visual Art Residency 2023


Jacqueline Weaver is an artist and educator from New York's Hudson Valley, currently living in the greater Chicago area. Her interdisciplinary work focuses on art as a collaborative and participatory endeavor. Heavily inspired by her experiences within the landscapes of the Hudson Valley, Weaver’s recent work addresses questions around land and water rights along with human relationships to land, water, and space. Weaver received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with work in new media, social practice, and sculpture. Her work has recently been exhibited at the South Bend Museum of Art, Opalka Gallery, the Florida State University Museum of Fine Art, and the Cleve Carney Museum of Art. Her ongoing works A Poisoned Well and The Border Projects have received numerous grants from the New York State Council on the Arts. She is an Associate Professor of Time Based Media and Co-chair of the art department at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where she is able to combine her passions for art, teaching, and travel through the college's field study program.

Michael Cunningham is a mixed media visual artist, musician, and writer whose work is often driven by investigations into materiality, temporality, and transience. The interplay between text, texture, visual hierarchies, and curated sensorial experiences guide his most recent work. Originally from the west coast, he now works and resides in the greater Chicago area. Cunningham attended the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI where he studied Graphic Design and is currently completing his English degree at the University of Illinois, Chicago in Creative Writing. He is a member of the art collaborative forceperunit and a regular collaborator with his partner Jacqueline Weaver on work such as the Border Projects and A Poisoned Well. His work has been exhibited at Art Basel in Miami and Fountain Art Fair in New York.
