Route 66: Preserving Cultural Landscapes

Route 66 is a vast expanse of connected cultural landscapes, including historic districts, farmland, viewscapes, and all the “spaces in-between” that are integral to the Route 66 experience of movement through space and time. Cultural landscapes are important touchstones of national, regional, and local identity, and foster a sense of community and place. They are also fragile places, affected by the forces of nature, commercial and residential development, vandalism and neglect. There are many resources available to help you protect the significant landscapes of Route 66.
