Scientific Name: Ilex vomitoria
Distribution: Southern Virginia, south to Florida and west to southeast Oklahoma and central Texas.
Identification: Single or multi-trunked shrub growing 12-45 ft. high. Small, dark green leaves on grey bark. Female plants produce persistent red berries.
Blooms: Small white flowers in April and May.
