ROANOKE, Va. - On September 17, 2024, at approximately 9:14 p.m., National Park Service Law Enforcement rangers received a report of a single motor vehicle accident near milepost 101, near Roanoke, Virginia, on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Law enforcement rangers and area first responders arrived on scene to find Laura Marie Jones, 36 years old, of Roanoke, Virginia, deceased as a result of injuries sustained from the accident.
The preliminary investigation indicates Jones left the roadway at a high rate of speed and hit a tree, which then fell onto Jones’ vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this time.
