![]() NPS Image The Homecoming celebration is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on May 18th and continue until 3 p.m. Beginning with a presentation from speakers Joe Anderson, a panel of former students, and a question-and-answer session. Immediately following the presentations visitors can enjoy a musical performance as well as family and group activities on the north lawn of the Monroe Elementary building. At any point during the day, visitors may also bring any artifacts they would like the Kansas State Historical Society digitization team to document, or meet with Jason McGowan in the Legacy of Brown gallery to share their stories as part of an oral history project. Accessible parking spaces are limited and located in the rear of the building, so it is recommended for visitors with accessibility issues be dropped off at the front of the building. Parking for the public will be available in the gravel lot across the historic playground in front of the Monroe Elementary building entrances to the parking lot are available on both 15th and 17th street. Motorcoaches, buses, and overflow parking will be located two blocks north at the Williams Science & Fine Arts Magnet School. Visitors can access the overflow parking lot by taking Quincy Street north to the school's parking lot. |
