Seashore Rangers Hosting April Vacation and National Park Week Activities

WELLFLEET, Mass– This year’s spring break for schools in Massachusetts coincides with National Park Week, a nationwide celebration at National Park Service sites across the country. National seashore rangers are planning several events and activities to commemorate this special week and the additional visitation spring break brings. All activities are free, and many are geared toward families.

Junior Ranger Ceremony: Join rangers at Salt Pond Visitor Center at 3 pm on Saturdays April 16 and 23 and Sundays April 17 and 24 for a 30-minute program to complete Junior Ranger activities and participate in an award ceremony. All ages are welcome.

Family Scavenger Hunt: This family adventure is back by popular demand! Stop by Salt Pond Visitor Center between 9 am and 4:30 pm on Saturday, April 16 to pick up your navigation pack.

Survival of the Fittest: Join Ranger Daniel for this one-hour indoor talk focused on stories, curiosities, and explanations of animal adaptations. Monday April 18 and Friday, April 22 at 1 pm at Salt Pond Visitor Center.

Whale Walk at Herring Cove Beach: Spring is a great time to look for whales from shore in Provincetown. Join us at 10 am on Tuesday, April 19 for a two-hour research talk and walk to look for whales. Reservations are required and may be made up to one week in advance by calling Salt Pond Visitor Center at (508) 255-3421, ext. 0.

Touch-A-Truck: This hands-on family event showcases specialized equipment needed to protect national parks and assist visitors. Drop by the Salt Pond Visitor Center parking lot on Wednesday, April 20 between 1 and 3 pm to check out heavy equipment, patrol cars, boats, ATVs, and more.

Movie: The Endurance: This adventure film about a 1914 expedition to the uncharted world of Antarctica will play on the theater-size screen at Salt Pond Visitor Center on Thursday, April 21. 1:30 to 3:30 pm.
