Proposed Bonita Canyon Campground Fee Increase

Chiricahua National Monument » Proposed Bonita Canyon Campground Fee Increase » Document List

Park Management is considering an increase in the camping fee at Bonita Canyon Campground in Chiricahua National Monument. Currently the camping fee is $20 per site per night, or $10 for Senior, Access, Golden Age and Golden Access passholders, and a Group site fee of $3/ per person/ per night, minimum of 8 persons. This has been the fee since 2017. All reservations are made through the website Recreation.gov, which has a contract cost of $8.40 per reservation. The proposed rate increase is for $25 per site per night and a flat fee of $50 per night for the Group Site.

The fees collected at Chiricahua National Monument remain in the park to directly benefit park operations. The Park continues to have a growing need for funds to improve facilities, infrastructure and visitor services in parks, with Campground restroom renovations and Campground visitor wi-fi access projects planned for 2024. The new revenue from the fee increase will be used to provide enhanced visitor services including repair and maintenance of facilities, capital improvements, resource protection and additional visitor programs and services. There will be an emphasis on park-deferred maintenance projects.
