Directions. Take turns with a partner (or in paired groups for even more fun!) acting out one of the 7 Leave No Trace principles. Just like in classic charades, the teammate acting out the principle cannot speak and can only use their body to try to get their partner to guess the correct principle.

Extension: Use a timer to create speedy rounds and award points to the team that gets their partner’s principle correct!

Leave No Trace Principles

Prior to playing, make sure to check out all the seven LNT principles! Click each principle to learn more on the LeaveNoTrace.org website.
  1. Plan ahead and prepare
  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces
  3. Dispose of waste properly
  4. Leave what you find
  5. Minimize campfire impacts
  6. Respect wildlife
  7. Be considerate of other visitors

Reflection: Even though charades is a fun game, practicing sustainable recreation in our National Parks is serious business! How do the LNT principles protect our Park’s natural and cultural resources? Is there a special place in your neighborhood or local forest/park that you want to preserve make sure stays for years to come? How can you help conserve important habitats?
