9th Battalion, Virginia Infantry (Hansbrough's)

Overview:
9th Infantry Battalion was organized in June, 1861, with four companies. The unit served in the Army of the Northwest and fought at Greenbrier River and Camp Alleghany where it lost 4 killed, 11 wounded, and 13 missing. During the spring of 1862 it merged into the 25th Regiment Virginia Infantry. Lieutenant Colonel George W. Hansborough and Major G.D. Camden, Jr. were in command.
