Curecanti National Recreation Area would like to announce that the Dillon Pinnacles parking and picnic areas will be closing periodically over the coming weeks to allow for reconstruction of the area. "We apologize for the short term inconvenience however, the refurbished area will be safe and usable as soon as possible," said Superintendent Connie Rudd. The construction is expected to begin on October 19, 2009 and continue for approximately four weeks. During construction, there will be times when the parking lot or boat ramp may be closed to ensure visitor safety in the construction zone. The Dillon Pinnacles Trail will remain open during construction, although parking at the trailhead may be periodically unavailable. The Dillon Pinnacles Trailhead and picnic area were damaged in October of 2008 when a tractor trailer carrying hazardous materials overturned. For more information on the closure, please contact the Elk Creek Visitor Center at (970) 641- 2337, extension 205. |
