Visit Garden Key & Fort Jefferson

The ferry and seaplane drop off visitors at Garden Key, which features Fort Jefferson, and do not provide transportation to other areas of the park. Due to time constraints, Ferry and seaplane day visitors will not have time to visit Loggerhead Key.

Visiting Other Areas of the Park

If you are planning on bringing a boat to the park, plan to arrive at Garden Key with cash to pay entrance fees for all those aged 16 years and older. You can also purchase a digital pass ahead of your visit by visiting Recreation.gov. NOTE: Entrance fees are not required for those simply transiting through the park without stopping.

  • Bringing your own boat to the Dry Tortugas National Park will provide you with the most opportunities to explore this remarkable national treasure.
  • If you plan on camping, consider bringing a kayak or canoe. This will provide you with access to other areas of the park such as Loggerhead Key and great snorkeling sites.
  • If you plan to take the Yankee Freedom Ferry to camp, all camping plans, including bringing a kayak, must be coordinated through the ferry.
  • There are no boat, kayak, or canoe rental services of any kind available in the park.
