Closure Order #23-001
Closures, restrictions, and public use limits: Under the authority provided to the Superintendent in 36 CFR 1.5 and 2.50 and 2.51, the following park areas and facilities are closed, effective April 24-27, 2023:
- Public Parking at Eisenhower National Historic Site
Notice: This administrative order applies to all individuals subject to the regulatory authority of the National Park Service (NPS) within the boundaries of Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site, including park visitors, government employees, concession employees, park residents and stakeholders.
Finding: The NPS issues this administrative order for the purposes of maintaining public health and safety and protecting park resources.
- During the closure period, the public parking lot will be expanded. This work prohibits the use of the existing parking area while the expansion is constructed. There are no other suitable areas for temporary parking in the park that wouldn’t result in safety concerns and/or resource damage.
- Pre-approved shuttle/bus access remains authorized.
The effectiveness of this order will be assessed on an ongoing basis and will be modified or removed when conditions warrant.
