Stephen F. Austin University Garden Exhibits

At Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, there is a Spanish Colonial demonstration garden outside the Stone Fort Museum. The garden will have native and introduced plant species that have existed along the trail. This hands-on garden will provide students and scholars a direct link to the past and an ongoing research tool to analyze the domestic uses of both native and introduced plant species.

Did you know chocolate, pumpkins, and corn traveled up the trail in the 1600s? This exhibit connects plants from the Spanish Colonial time to what's on your plate today.
