Volunteering for the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site

The Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site offers a variety of volunteer opportunities:

  • Tour Guides for Tao House
  • Gardeners for the Taoist courtyard
  • Museum Curator Assistants
  • Group Community Service Projects on the property

General Volunteer Opportunities

Requirements and Benefits:

  • Minimal requirements; training is provided
  • Volunteer field trips and events throughout the year
  • A minimum one-year commitment is requested due to the training involved
  • Note: Community service applicants are not eligible for these positions

Maintenance Volunteer Opportunities

Duties:

  • Manual labor in the park's walnut orchards and other areas
  • Tasks include:
    • Picking up trash
    • Pulling weeds and removing invasive plant species
    • Mowing lawns
    • Picking ripe fruits and nuts
    • Hauling plant debris from pruning sites to composting areas
    • Other duties as determined by the maintenance supervisor

Requirements:

  • No minimum commitment required
  • All volunteers, including community service applicants, may apply
  • Be advised: This work is physically demanding and takes place outdoors. Volunteers with back, heart, allergies, or other medical conditions should consider these factors.
