On Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 9:00 pm, Everglades National Park will host a New Moon Star Party event. The park is a perfect spot for viewing the wonders of the night sky due to its location away from the lights of the local communities. A Ranger guided program about the constellations and the night sky will be presented. Telescopes might be available for viewing the celestial night sky and will provide an opportunity for visitors to see for themselves what is visible in the world above us.Come early to adjust to the darkness. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather. The public is welcome. No fee or advance reservations are necessary.Since bright headlights impair night vision, we ask that all participants arrive no later than 9:00 pm.The event will be held at Mahogany Hammock, 20 miles from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center. New Moon Star Parties will also be held on Saturday, March 24th. -EVER- Keep up with Everglades happenings on our Social Media Links! |
