PATCHOGUE, NY - The concession contract was awarded through a competitive selection process. This commercial operation will provide significant water transportation for visitors to Fire Island National Seashore, and is critical to providing a positive visitor experience. The approximately 4.6 nautical mile journey takes visitors between the Patchogue Ferry Terminal and Watch Hill marina, on the western edge of the Otis Pile Fire Island High Dune Wilderness, directly across the Great South Bay. The contract includes the operation of passenger cargo service and authorizes sales of visitor convenience items.

“Fire Island National Seashore is excited to continue our relationship with Davis Park Ferry Co., Inc.” said Acting Superintendent Lindsey Kurnath. “We are grateful visitors have access to a safe, reliable, and high-quality experience across the Great South Bay to the Watch Hill area through this partnership.”

The existing concessioner, Davis Park Ferry Co., Inc. has provided ferry service for the Davis Park Fire Island community since 1947 and has operated under concession contracts with the NPS for the past several decades. "We are so pleased to be able to continue serving our local National Park at Watch Hill. Davis Park Ferry Co., Inc. is now a fourth-generation operated family business and our family is deeply entwined with Fire Island and its history. Watch Hill is beloved as a quiet beach retreat as well as an educational resource; it is a vital gateway for our local community to access the National Parks System. This year marks the 55th year of our partnership with the Fire Island National Seashore, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration." said Stephanie Sherman, President of Davis Park Ferry Co., Inc.
