September 11 Ceremony General Information

The 25th annual September 11 Observance Ceremony will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Memorial Plaza. To learn more about the ceremony, visit our September 11 General Information page.

25th Observance Special Events

September 11 Observance

The 25th Annual September 11 Observance will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Memorial Plaza and is free and open to the public. 

Morning Observance

8:30- 10:30 a.m. at the Wall of Names.

The public is invited to join the morning observance to reflect on the attack in New York City, Arlington and Shanksville. The observance includes the reading of the names of the Flight 93 passengers and crew members. The Bells of Remembrance will ring in their honor.

Afternoon Ceremony
1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Wall of Names.

The ceremony is open to the public and includes remarks, keynote speakers, music and concludes with a public wreath laying ceremony at the Wall of Names.

The Wall of Names opens to the public at 3:00 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and allow ample time to park and walk to the event site. All visitors on the morning of September 11 will park in designated lots and shuttle to and from the event. Accessible buses are available to accommodate wheelchairs. 

The Visitor Center is open until 6:00 p.m. on September 11.

Luminaria Ceremony

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2026
Time: 7:30pm - 9pm

The Luminaria Ceremony will take place from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Wall of Names. Forty candle lanterns will be carried to the Wall of Names and placed below the names of each of the passengers and crew members of Flight 93.

The Memorial will close following the conclusion of the Luminaria Ceremony.

Honoring the Forty Through Art: Live Chalk Portrait Event

Date: September 9-10, 2026
Time: 9am- 5pm

Stop by the Visitor Center during your visit to Flight 93 National Memorial to see a unique temporary tribute to the passengers and crew members of Flight 93. Watch as 20 artists from around the country create chalk portraits of the 40 heroes of Flight 93.

Honoring the Forty Through Art: Chalk Portrait Display

Date: September 11-20, 2026
Time: 9am- 5pm

A temporary chalk art display honoring the passengers and crew of Flight 93 is on view at the Visitor Center. Chalk art portraits will be displayed through September 20 or once the weather reclaims this temporary tribute.
