Reptiles

Georgia is home to dozens of reptiles, cold-blooded vertebrates such as turtles, alligators, lizards, and snakes. Reptiles are defined by the following unique traits:
  • They have dry skin with scales.
  • They reproduce with eggs.
  • They breathe through lungs.
Walking around the grounds, you’ll most likely spot a snake, skink, or lizard in the grass or on the trees. Turtles and alligators are rarer to spot since they tend to avoid human interaction, but they also call Fort Frederica home.
