Space is limited to 50 participants for this special event and reservations are required. Admission is $10 for those 16 or older and $5 for those aged 3-15. Children under 3 are free but must still have a reservation. Tickets may be purchased at the park entrance station from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Tickets may also be purchased by phone: 912-786-4383. While the gates will open at 5:30 p.m., no admission will be permitted after 6 pm. Participants will meet outside the park visitor center.
The hike will begin with a daylight adventure on the North Pier Trail, followed by a twilight walk on the Lighthouse Trail. The goal is to arrive in time to see the sunset--and the moonrise-- behind the Cockspur Island Lighthouse. Photo opportunities will abound, but participants are expected to be back at their vehicles by 9 pm.
Please note that while the hike is not strenuous, the walk back will be in the dark. There are hazards such as roots and branches on the trail and those with accessibility issues may have some difficulties. All participants should bring a headlamp or flashlight with a red filter. The red light minimizes light pollution and allows for a more enjoyable night time experience for everyone.
Please note that it may rain and tides will be moderately high. There is a possibility that it will be muddy on the trails, so wear clothing and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bringing your own water is highly recommended. And finally: this is Savannah. Bring your bug spray. You will never, ever regret bringing bug spray.
Fort Pulaski National Monument is located on U.S. Highway 80, 15 miles east of Savannah. Hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. seven days a week.
