Superintendent Charlie Fenwick announced today that Fort Pulaski National Monument (FOPU) will hold Open House Meetings in Savannah, on Tybee Island and at the National Monument for the public to review and evaluate alternatives for the General Management Plan (GMP). The GMP establishes fundamental goals and objectives for the park with regard to protecting and preserving its natural and cultural resources and for providing visitor services and achieving desired visitor experiences. A newsletter describing the preliminary alternatives has been developed and will be discussed during the Open House meetings which will be held in Savannah, Tybee Island, and Fort Pulaski National Monument as follows:
Each Open House session will begin with a brief slide presentation explaining the preliminary management alternatives followed by questions and answers and opportunities for the public to comment on any or all alternatives. Comments may be provided at one of the Open House meetings, in writing to: National Park Service, FOPU General Management Plan Team, Attention: David Libman, 100 Alabama Street, 1924 Building, Atlanta, Georgia 30303, or through the Internet by directing your web browser (for example, Internet Explorer) to https://parkplanning.nps.gov/projectHome.cfm?parkId=379&projectId=11163 and then click on “Open for Public Comments”.
