Be A Junior Ranger

Interested in learning more about the history at Fort Raleigh? Our Junior Ranger program is a great way to discover more about the stories of Fort Raleigh! Ideally for ages three and up, the Fort Raleigh Junior Ranger book contains a variety of activities designed to help participants better understand the many stories of Roanoke Island.

To participate in the Fort Raleigh Junior Ranger program, stop by the visitor center and ask a ranger or volunteer for our Junior Ranger book. To earn your badge, follow the instructions to complete the necessary activities. When you have finished, bring the book to the front desk and go over your answers with a ranger or volunteer. After that, take the Junior Ranger pledge and receive your choice of one of two badges!

To earn a Junior Ranger badge, the junior ranger must be in-person at the visitor center, but you can prepare for your trip by downloading the Fort Raleigh Junior Ranger Book before you arrive at the park. If you are visiting other parts of the Outer Banks, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Memorial, and nearby Jockey’s Ridge State Park also have Junior Rager programs!
