FREDERICKSBURG, VA. — Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park’s spring schedule will run from April 26, 2025 to June 6, 2025. Plan your visit and discover the stories of soldiers, civilians, and enslaved people who experienced four major battles and helped determine the fate of the nation during the Civil War.During spring, the Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Centers will be open daily with scheduled ranger programs on weekends. Spring special events include National Park Day on April 26, events remembering the battlefield anniversaries, and the 30th Anniversary of the annual Fredericksburg National Cemetery Luminaria on Saturday, May 24. Self-guided audio driving tours for all four battlefields and audio walking tours are available for free at go.nps.gov/frsp-tours or via the official NPS App found on the Apple Store or Google Play.
Spring hours for visitor centers, historic sites, and guided programs are as follows:
Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center
1013 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, VAOpen daily, 9 am–5 pm
Plan your visit with a park ranger at the visitor center. Explore exhibits on Fredericksburg, the battle, and its aftermath. Shop in the park store and watch a 22-minute movie, shown every half hour.
Ranger Program: Sunken Road Walking Tour: Join a guided tour of the one of the most iconic and recognized battlefield landmarks of the war. (Weekends; 10:30 am & 2 pm; 45 minutes)
Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center
9001 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, VAOpen daily, 9 am–5 pm
Explore exhibits on the battles of Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Court House. Shop in the park store and watch a 22-minute video, shown every half hour.
Ranger Program: Investigating Chancellorsville: Why did the US and the Confederate armies clash in May of 1863 and why does it matter? Join park staff to learn about the Chancellorsville Campaign and dive into some of the big questions surrounding this contested battle. (Weekends; 10:30 am & 2 pm; 30 minutes)
While Chatham remains closed for maintenance, the gate and parking area are open 9 am-5 pm. The "Stonewall" Jackson Death Site and Ellwood are closed for the season and there will be no staff at the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield. In the summer we will have expanded hours at these locations as well as expanded program offerings throughout the park. Park grounds at all locations remain open sunrise to sunset.

National Park Day
Saturday, April 26, 202510 am-4 pm at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor CenterJoin us on Saturday April 27 to celebrate National Park Week! National Park Week is an annual national celebration for people to discover and enjoy our country’s remarkable network of natural, cultural, and recreational sites. Programs celebrating our Junior Ranger and Bark Rangers will include story time, and activity tent, and themed battlefield walks.
Chancellorsville Anniversary
Saturday, May 3, 2025Chancellorsville Battlefield
Soldiers fighting the Battle of Chancellorsville would never forget May 3. Take a walk around the visitor center with a ranger and explore the battle in the morning. In the afternoon join rangers and living historians at the Jackson Flank Attack tour stop to investigate what happened on May 2 in the aftermath of Jackson’s famed maneuver.
“Stonewall” Jackson Death Site Open House
Saturday, May 10, 20259 am-5 pm at the “Stonewall” Jackson Death Site
Confederate General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson died on May 10, 1863. Visit the farm office of the Fairfield Plantation, the building that Jackson died in, and reflect on the life and legacy of this historical figure.
Spotsylvania Anniversary
Saturday, May 17, 2025Spotsylvania Battlefield, Bloody Angle, tour stop #3
By mid-May, fighting at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House was almost over. But the struggle which started at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 5 was only just beginning. Join park staff and living historians at the Bloody Angle on May 17 to walk the ground where thousands of lives were changed forever.
30th Annual Fredericksburg National Cemetery Luminaria
Saturday, May 24, 20258 pm-11 pm at the Fredericksburg National Cemetery
The Fredericksburg National Cemetery is the final resting place for over 15,000 United States soldiers. On this evening, over 15,000 luminarias light up the cemetery representing each soldier buried here.
