Photography in the Park

Welcome! This park’s beautiful green space masks stories of war and human enslavement. Today, this shared ground offers opportunities for both reflection and limited recreation. Please be mindful of the sensitive nature of this park and enjoy your visit.

Do I need a permit for photography?

Most photography activities are allowed in the park without a special permit, however, all photography activities must respect park resources and share the space. If you answer yes to any of the questions below, you need a photography permit. Please visit the Permits & Reservations page to learn more.

While you're here...

You can help us protect the park and ensure that all people enjoy their visit by sharing the space and respecting park resources.

Share the Space

Activities must not interfere with the use of the park for educational purposes or the enjoyment of other visitors.

  • Keep walkways, doorways, and driveways clear and allow access to all parts of the park. Obstructing access creates a safety concern.
  • Use the space as it is. Do not move signage, equipment, or other items on the landscape. If you are taking photographs, do not instruct other visitors to move out of your way to get a desired shot.
  • Be mindful that parking is limited at Chatham. Limousines have a difficult time navigating the parking lot. Plan to carpool or arrange to be dropped off.

Respect Park Resources

All visitors are responsible for helping us take care of the natural and historical resources protected in the park.

  • Leave No Trace. Please do not pick flowers or plants and stay on maintained paths and grassy areas. Look around before leaving and remove any leftover supplies or trash.
  • Please do not climb on historic features. Help us preserve the walls, statuary, earthworks, and other resources on the park landscape.
  • Do not bring any confetti, balloons or glitter. These items are detrimental to the environment.
  • Leave the drone at home. The launching, landing, or operation of unmanned aircraft is prohibited in the park.
