Broad Channel, N.Y. –Ferae Naturae (Wildlife), an exhibit of photographs by Frantz Michaud, will open on Sunday, September 17. The exhibit opening and reception will be from 2 pm – 4 pm at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. The opening reception is free and open to the public.

Frantz Michaud is a well-known studio photographer who has recently become fascinated with nature photography as he began visiting the Jamaica Wildlife Refuge to take pictures of the birds and wildlife he discovered there.

His interest in capturing images of wildlife in nature has deepened and led him to explore other areas in the US and abroad. This show includes pictures from local sites on Long Island, Conowingo Dam in Cecil County, Maryland, the Everglades National Park in Florida, as well as some images from the Térraba-Sierpe National Wetlands, and Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica.

Michaud was born in Haiti and attended Queens Community College where he studied electronics and photography. He is a member of American Photographic Artists New York, (APANY) and a member of Nikon Professional Services (NPS). He has had solo exhibitions at Queens Public Library, an exhibit at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, another show at the Haitian Consulate of New York and others.

Michaud maintains a studio in Queens where his specialties are large family portraits, high-end weddings, celebrities, fashion, head shots, as well as documentation of arts, illustration, commercial, wildlife etc. This show, Ferae Naturae, features images selected from his archive with the intention of drawing attention to the plight of many species facing the changes in climate change and shrinking natural areas.
