Staten Island, N.Y. – Gateway National Recreation Area’s Fort Wadsworth will not be open for fireworks viewing this year.

The planned closures will follow the schedule of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show, which is scheduled to be held for five minutes each on three evenings, beginning Monday, June 29. Once the information for the time and location of each show is released by the city of New York, Gateway will align its closures appropriately.

Fort Wadsworth will close at 7 p.m., including on July 4. Only residents and guests will be permitted to enter Fort Wadsworth at the front gate after 7 p.m. The rear gate at will be locked and will remain locked until the following morning. Please visit our website www.nps.gov/gate for specific details about park operations.
