The 2001 Spatial Odyssey host hotel is the Primm Valley Resort which offers 624 sleeping rooms, a variety of restaurants, outdoor swimming pool, casino, golf, and adjoins the Fashion Outlet of Las Vegas.
Reserving a hotel room
A block of sleeping rooms is being held at Primm Valley Resort for conference participants. To reserve a room, call 1-800-386-7867 (1-800-FUN-STOP) and refer to the group code SNP1202 or the National Park Service Group. A room rate of $31.95/night for single or double occupancy, plus Clark County room tax (currently 9%,) will be in effect Sunday through Thursday nights. Reservations should be made no later than November 19, 2001 to receive the conference rate.
Rooms are also available at the other two hotel-casinos in Primm - Buffalo Bill's ($21.95/night) and Whiskey Pete's ($19.95/night). A monorail links the three facilities.
Again, it is important that you identify yourself as being with the National Park Service Group.
Getting to Primm
Primm is located at the California-Nevada border 42 miles west of Las Vegas on Interstate 15, the major highway between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.
By air
McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas is served by all major carriers.
Airport shuttle
IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE!
Primm Valley Resort will contract with Coach USA to provide airport shuttle service to and from Las Vegas. Cost will be $10 round trip - payable to the hotel. The hotel is willing to schedule shuttles to accommodate the flight schedules of conference attendees if we provide them with flight information.

Rental cars are available at McCarran International Airport. Parking is free at Primm. However, there may not be need for a car during the week. A full range of dining and Nevada-style entertainment is available at Primm and you can get around easily on foot, by monorail, or via free shuttles.
