SAN FRANCISCO -- Parking lots and national park sites within proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge are expected to be impacted the morning and early afternoon of Friday, January 20, during a free speech activity called "Bridge Together Golden Gate".
Thousands of event participants are expected to gather near the bridge during morning rush hour for a 10AM - 12PM event.
Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) advises event participants and other park visitors to plan for increased congestion and to use public transportation, bicycle, or ride share services on Friday.
Parking lots and park sites will return to their normal use Friday afternoon.
The event organizers have substantial trip-planning information available on their website. In addition, GGNRA is issuing the following guidance and alerts to park visitors:
Parking Lot Closures South of the Bridge
-- Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center
-- Langdon Court
-- Battery East (Limited ADA parking is available on a first-come-first-serve basis at Battery East)
Parking Lot Closures North of the Bridge
-- Vista Point
-- North Tower Golden Gate Parking Lot (aka Dillingham Lot or Conzelman Road Parking Lot
Taking Public Transportation to the Event
Information about public transportation options through Golden Gate Transit and SFMTA has been compiled by the event organizers and can be found at http://bridge.beyondtherectangle.org/transportation
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Points for Taxis and Ride Share Services
The event organizers have designated spots for taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc., and posted a map on their website:
-- South of the bridge, use Fort Scott Lot D or Battery East.
-- North of the bridge, use the North Tower Golden Gate Parking Lot
Media Parking at Battery East by Reservation
A limited number of parking spaces are available for media in the Battery East Parking Lot. Contact Sartoriteller through the information provided below to reserve your parking spot. No media parking will be available at the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center parking lot.
Other Anticipated Areas of Congestion
Roads in the Presidio leading to the Golden Gate Bridge; Waterfront areas of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, including Fort Baker in Marin County and the Presidio and Fort Point National Historic Site in San Francisco.
Weather
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the next seven days, including periods of rain on Friday. To keep apprised of conditions visit http://www.weather.gov/SanFrancisco.
The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District is also issuing guidance and alerts for event participants at http://www.goldengate.org.
