STINSON BEACH, CA —Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) is pleased to announce the selection of The Siren Canteen to operate food and beverage and other associated services at Stinson Beach.
The Siren Canteen has been the concessioner since 2014 and has made significant enhancements to the operation over recent years, attracting throngs of beachgoers to the charming snack bar that shares a 1960s-era facility with GGNRA’s lifeguard tower. "I am honored and excited to continue working with the National Park Service to provide the Stinson Beach community and its visitors with fresh fare prepared with love," said Mill Valley resident Mary Margaret Stewart, who owns and operates The Siren Canteen.
Over the past five years, Stinson Beach has averaged approximately one million annual visitors who enjoy the popular location for swimming and other recreational activities. The Siren Canteen will provide these visitors with the opportunity to grab a snack or refreshment while enjoying their park.
The duration of the concession contract is 10 years, with an estimated effective date of March 1, 2019. The contract requires the provision of food and beverage services, similar to the existing operation, and also allows for convenience item sales and equipment rentals. GGNRA plans to rehabilitate the Stinson Beach concession facilities in the winter of 2019-2020, requiring the operation to close during the slower winter months for the duration of the improvement project.
