BAKER, NV – The Snake Creek Road will be closed to vehicle traffic above the Serviceberry Trailhead at 8:00am on Tuesday September 22nd until 10:00pm on Wednesday September 23rd. This closure will only affect the last 0.35 miles of the road. Visitors will still be able to drive vehicles without trailers all the way to the Serviceberry Trailhead. From there they can access the trails located at the end of the Snake Creek Road by foot. Camping at most sites along the Snake Creek Road will still be available on a first come first served basis.
This closure is due to the native fish restoration activities that will occur within Snake Creek and at Johnson Lake. Volunteers will be transporting native Bonneville cutthroat trout to Johnson Lake by horseback and mule train. The parking lot at the end of the Snake Creek Road will be used as a staging area for vehicles and trailers. This closure will ensure there is the room needed to park, unload, and turn around the horse trailers.
If you have any questions regarding this temporary road closure please contact Jonathan Reynolds, Fish Biologist, at 775-234-7566 or e-mail us.
