The staff at Grand Canyon National Park and Grand Canyon Conservancy are proud to announce a milestone celebration marking 10 years of the Cultural Demonstration Program. A celebration event marking the 10-year anniversary will take place at the Desert View Watchtower on Saturday, July 6, 2024, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the 11 Associated Tribes of Grand Canyon through traditional demonstrations.

The Cultural Demonstration Program was inaugurated in 2014 as an initiative of the Grand Canyon Intertribal Working Group. The program began with four demonstrators and now boasts more than 200 demonstrators. To commemorate this significant achievement, the park will host 20 demonstrators from 9 of the 11 Associated Tribes.

The celebration includes a special presentation and performance by acclaimed artist Ed Kabotie at the Mckee Amphitheater on the evening of July 5. On July 6, the day will commence with morning and evening prayers, traditional dances, speeches by tribal leaders, and a special program titled "Grand Canyon Speaks," offering insights into the cultural significance of the Grand Canyon.

"We are excited to celebrate a decade of the Cultural Demonstration Program, which has become an integral part of Grand Canyon National Park's commitment to honoring and preserving the heritage of the Indigenous peoples of this land," said Ed Keable, Superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park.
