Coffee With George Washington Carver
George Washington Carver’s Bulletins: Some Choice Wild Vegetables
You are invited to attend Coffee With Carver on Thursday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. inside the visitor center at George Washington Carver National Monument. Coffee and hot tea will be available for you to enjoy as a park ranger shares insights about George Washington Carver’s agricultural bulletin entitled Some Choice Wild Vegetables. Through this bulletin, George Washington Carver taught impoverished, sharecropping farm families in the South to enrich their meals with readily available, nutrient-dense plants.
Following the ranger talk, park volunteer Linda will share recipes and information about wild edibles, such as dandelion, chicory, salsify root, and many other “weeds” we walk on daily. George Washington Carver’s bulletins will be on display during this fascinating program! Coffee With Carver is a free program, supported by the Carver Birthplace Association and the Volunteers In Parks program.
Administered by the National Park Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior, George Washington Carver National Monument preserves the birthplace and childhood home of George Washington Carver - scientist, educator, and humanitarian. The park is located two miles west of Diamond, Missouri on Highway V, then ¼ mile south on Carver Road.
