My experience as an intern with the Education Department at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park was one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding experiences of my academic career. My internship not only solidified my long-held dream of pursuing a career with the National Park Service, but it also broadened my perspective and understanding of what “education” can mean. Through assisting with the development and execution of many varied educational programs for school groups visiting the park, I was continually challenged, inspired and enlightened as I saw the idea of experiential learning put into practice. I would most certainly recommend an internship with this program to anyone who would like to expand their perspectives about education (and history) and challenge themselves in a fast paced environment! |
