Hampton National Historic Site is a "no drone zone". The launching, landing, or operating unmanned aircrafts such as drones within the boundaries of Hampton National Historic Site is prohibited by federal law unless granted through written permission by the park superintendent. The operating of drones for professional photography and film is also prohibited without the written permission of the park superintendent.

“Unmanned aircraft” is defined as a device that is used or intended to be used for flight in the air without the possibility of direct human intervention from within or on the device. This term includes all types of devices that meet this definition (e.g., model airplanes, quadcopters, drones) that are used for any purpose, including for recreation or commerce.

While the National Park Service supports a variety of recreational activities, serious concerns have been raised about drones and their impact to the visitor experience and the safety of visitors, staff, and park resources. The authority to prohibit drones in national parks is granted under 36 CFR 1.5 (closures and public use limits).

Additional information about unmanned aircraft in national parks is available on the National Park Service's website.
