Homestead Days: Homestead National Historical Park to Host Trick Roper, Joan Wells
Beatrice, Nebraska – Homestead National Historical Park will be hosting Joan Wells as a part of our annual Homestead Days event. Joan Wells will be featured at the Education Center’s outdoor stage on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Wells has toured with her trick roping and western music for the National School Assemblies Agency of Hollywood, CA and won the title as Women’s World Champion Trick Roper at the Will Rogers Trick Roping Contest in Claremore, OK.
Wells has made over 50 appearances in two productions of the Will Rogers Musical and appeared in the Macy's Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. She has been featured in the re-enactments of the Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill Wild West Shows and has appeared at both the Nebraska and Kansas State fairs. Joan has made as many as 100 appearances a year performing for stage shows, conventions, school programs, western theme events and festivals.
“Joan Wells demonstrates an historic art form, long associated with homesteading communities and the American West,” stated Mark Engler, Superintendent.
This event series will be outside and follow CDC and other related guidelines. Each individual performance is dependent on weather conditions. This year’s festivities are limited to the stage series. This event is made possible by the generosity of The Friends of Homestead and The Hevelone Foundation. Admission to Homestead National Historical Park and all events are free.
This event will also be in-person and streaming live on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/c/HomesteadNationalHistoricalPark/videos.
