Join park rangers and volunteers for the Hedge Apple Festival on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 2:00 –4:00 p.m.at Homestead National Monument of America to have fun with hedge apples! This fun event will begin with hedge apple crafts and games at 2:00 p.m.at the Homestead Heritage Center. See who creates the most exciting and unique creation using the provided hedge apples and craft supplies! After that, kids and visitors of all ages can join in on the Homestead Hedge Apple Games, a series of fun activities outside near the Palmer-Epard Cabin. Games will include a hedge apple on a spoon race, hedge apple bucket toss, and more! This event is free and offers exciting fun for the whole family! "Homestead National Monument's Osage orange hedgerow is often overlooked by visitors, but the Hedge Apple Festival celebrates this unique tree and its fruit! Join us for this fun and FREE event," said Superintendent Mark Engler. Remember, Homestead National Monument of America has an exciting schedule of events planned for 2016. Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, or 45 miles south of Lincoln, Nebraska.
