Hot Springs National Park announces 2017 Artists-in-Residence
Hot Springs, AR: Hot Springs National Park and the National Park Service are proud to announce the selections for the 2017 Artist-in-Residence program. This year marks the fourteenth consecutive season of artists working in this national park and will see the largest group of artists hosted here since the inception of the local program in 2004.
This diverse group of artists, writers, poets, painters, photographers, storytellers, performance artists, and illustrators includes:
Tina Mozelle Braziel and Jim Braziel, Remlap, AL; John Chavers, Austin, TX; Susan Crum-Cox, Lebanon, KY; Sofia V. Gonzalez, Little Rock, AR; Victoria Goring, Santa Monica, CA; Erin E. Hunter, Monterey, CA; Jessie Janeshek, Bethany, WV; Carla Johannesmeyer, Summerville, SC; Stefan Kaben, Lanham, MD; Lisa Krannichfeld, Little Rock, AR; Margaret Muza, Milwaukee, WI; Esther Nooner, Fayetteville, AR; Derek Palacio, Ann Arbor, MI; Matt Parker, Bogalusa, LA; Katie Ree, Durham, NC; Miriam Sagan, Santa Fe, NM; Becca Staszak, Chicago, IL.
During their residency, artists will provide public programs through formal or informal demonstrations, workshops, lectures, or other open events. Upon completion of their residency, each artist will donate an original artwork to the national park’s permanent collection. Residencies begin on Sunday, March 5.
