Join local plant experts Nathanael Pilla and Steve Sass at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center to learn about the importance of native plants.
On Saturday, April 6, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, join Nathanael Pilla, a regional botanist, for a historical and botanical journey through the Indiana Dunes flora and what can we do to minimize our impact where we live.
On Sunday, April 7, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, local plant expert Steve Sass will discuss plant communities and their essential role in the web of life. By including native plants into our home landscapes, we can better the ecosystem that surrounds us.
Most of the species discussed in these programs will be available for sale at the Friends of Indiana Dunes’ 23nd Annual Native Plant Sale on Saturday, April 13, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center. Native Plant Sale pre-order forms will be available at these talks. For more information on the Friends’ native plant sale, contact Zella Olson at zrolson@comcast.net.
