NPS July 18 and August 22 Join a park ranger on a Conemaugh Lake Heritage Hike. Reservations are required for this free hike. Please call 814-886-6171 to sign up. The hike begins on the remains of the South Fork Dam and proceeds up the Carriage Road Nature Trail, following the carriage road the members of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club used. Participants will then walk through the former lakebed and through the breach in the dam. Participants will learn about the history of the South Fork Dam, the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, their activities at the lake, the day of May 31 and more. The hike is approximately a mile and a half in length. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water. The hike takes place rain or shine. |
