Evening on the Lake programs are select Tuesday evenings throughout the summer at 7:00 p.m. in the Club House, except for May 28. No reservations are required for these programs. Our Evening on the Lake series is sponsored by Friends of Johnstown Flood National Memorial.

May 28- Objects from the Johnstown Flood. This program is part of our special programming for the 135th anniversary of the Johnstown Flood and is presented by guest speaker Tyler Garhart in the Visitor Center. Participants will move throughout the Visitor Center to view a variety of objects on display from the flood.

June 25- The Pennsylvania Railroad and the 1889 Flood. This program is presented by park volunteer Brandon Sliko.
The program will discuss Pennsylvania Railroad operations and deteriorating conditions on May 31, and the rebuilding of the railroad in the days and months following the disaster.

July 23- Upcoming Projects at Johnstown Flood National Memorial.
Park staff will provide updates on several projects at the park.

July 30- Disastrous Floods and the Demise of Steel in Johnstown.
This program is presented by Dr. Pat Farabaugh, Professor of Communications at Saint Francis University.
Dr. Farabaugh will be discussing his new book, Disastrous Floods and the Demise of Steel in Johnstown.

August 27- Through the Lens of Louis Semple Clarke: Photographs of the South Fork Fishing & Hunting Club. This program is presented by park volunteer Olga Townsend.
A presentation on Louis Semple Clarke, the last member to join the South Fork Fishing & Hunting Club in 1889. The son of club member Charles John Clarke, he spent many summers at the Club and took numerous photographs that were lost until their rediscovery in 1991. His photographs range from artistic compositions to images of cottages and sailboats around Lake Conemaugh. The lecture will cover his life, photography and printing techniques in the 1880s, and images of his original photographs.
