The Quail Wash Zone features open valleys, rocky canyons, and two of the highest peaks in the park—Quail Mountain (5,813') and Mount Minerva Hoyt (5,405'). This zone offers multi-day loop options when connecting to trails in the surrounding zones. Elevations range from ~3,400 to 5,813 feet. Camping is not allowed near Samuelson Rocks or in Smithwater Canyon due to sensitive resources.

Trails: The Bigfoot Trail, the Panorama Trail, the Johnnie Lang Connector Trail, and Samuelson West. Quail Mountain and Mount Minerva Hoyt are popular desinations; however, there are no maintianed trails to the summits and they require off-trail navigation skills.

Bordering Zones: Juniper Flats and Covington

Closest Backcountry Trailheads to Enter/Exit: Boy Scout (4,000'), Covington Flats (4,800'), and Juniper Flats (4,340').
