The Twin Tanks Zone is on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert section of the park and features open valleys, panoramic views, and a portion of the Hexie Mountains. Points of interest include Crown Prince Lookout, Twin Tanks, and Stirrup Tank. Elevations range from ~3,500 to 4,500 feet.

Trails: The California Hiking and Riding Trail. Please note that most of the social trails leading west from the Twin Tanks Backcountry Trailhead do not take you one mile from the trailhead. You must be one mile away from the trailhead to legally camp. Camping near the Twin Tanks is discouraged due to sensitive resources.

Bordering Zones: Lost Horse, Pleasant Valley, and North Entrance.

Closest Backcountry Trailheads to Enter/Exit: Twin Tanks (3,900') and Geology Tour Road (4,485’).
